Host, Legends Of Live Recipient Announced For 2023 Canadian Live Music Industry Awards
The CLMIAs will celebrate the ingenuity, perseverance, and excellence demonstrated by live music companies, individuals, and organizations over the past year.
Canadian Music Week (CMW) and the Canadian Live Music Association (CLMA), are proud to announce the host of the 2023 Canadian Live Music Industry Awards (CLMIA): two-time JUNO Award winner Digging Roots.
The beating hearts of Digging Roots, founding duo ShoShona and Raven have travelled the world with a joyful message of resistance, celebrating Anishinaabe and Onkwehón:we traditions of round dance and interconnectedness. More than a band, Digging Roots have taken their place at the frontline of the fight for equity and representation in the arts, with involvement in industry advocacy and organization to empower arts communities worldwide.
The CLMA and CMW are pleased to honour this year’s Legends of Live recipient, Bruce Cockburn.
One of Canada’s finest artists, Cockburn has enjoyed an illustrious career shaped by politics, spirituality, and musical diversity. For 50 years, this Canadian musical legend has been capturing in song the essence of human experience – while fiercely striving to make it better. That scratching and pulling has earned him high praise as an exceptional songwriter and a revered guitarist.
Cockburn has won 13 JUNO Awards, an induction into the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame, a Governor General’s Performing Arts Award, and has been made an Officer of the Order of Canada, among many other accolades. He has 22 gold and platinum records including a six-times platinum record for his Christmas album. Cockburn continues to tour internationally.

This awards show will mark the 7th year honouring the live music industry and the bringing together of the Canadians behind live music for a night of celebration and recognition.
