The 2022 Canadian National DMC DJ Championships, presented by Pioneer DJ Canada, is now entering its elimination round.

DJs are asked to submit their two-minute Elimination Video to www.dmcdjchamps.com no later than 11:59 p.m. BST on July 21, 2022.  The top10 DJs will advance to the 2022 Canadian National DMC DJ Championships for a chance to represent their country at the 2022 DMC World DJ championships.

As with many other live events, the 2021 DMC World DJ Championships suspended live events for the first time in its history since their inception in 1985 due to the onset of the Covid-19 Pandemic.  In order to keep the competition going, the decision was made to take the event online via video submission.  New sub-categories such as the “Scratch”, “Foundation”, “Beat Juggling” and “All Vinyl” were also added to evolve the competition on a Global scale in 2021.

“Despite the challenges that the COVID-19 Pandemic has placed on all events, we’re happy that we have been able to host them online with some exciting new twists — but make no mistake, we are all hoping that we can return to live competition for 2023.  There is nothing like the energy of a DJ Battle with a live audience!” says DMC Canada’s National Director Amir Handan.

The Canadian National DMC DJ Championships is the traditional “Showcase” category or “main event” of the DMCs.  As in the past Canadian, DJs are competing to represent Canada at the DMC World DJ Championships. The grand prize for the 2022 Canadian DMC DJ Championships also includes a Pioneer DJM-S5 Battle Mixer.

On Aug. 5th, the top 10 entrants will be notified that they have earned a spot in the Canadian National DMC Championships. They will then be given until Aug. 15th to submit their full four-minute routine. On Sept. 10th, the 2022 Canadian National DMC DJ Champion will be announced and will the move on to represent Canada at the DMC World Championships.

The DMC World DJ Competition is the longest running global DJ competition.  Many of the world’s most notorious DJs have competed in the DMCs. Canadian DMC World Champion alumni include the likes of A-Trak, DJ Dopey, DJ Vekked, and DJ Brace.
