The Weeknd Wins Big, Nickelback Inducted into Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and More at the 2023 Juno Awards
The 2023 Juno Awards took place March 11-13 in Edmonton.
The 2023 Juno Awards took place March 11-13 in Edmonton, with The Weeknd coming out as this year’s big winner. The global superstar collected five trophies, making him the artist with the second-highest number of Juno Awards ever, second only to Anne Murray. The main event, hosted once again by Simu Liu (pictured), also saw Alberta rockers Nickelback inducted into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame.
Other Juno wins included Avril Lavigne taking home the TikTok Juno fan choice award, Jessie Reyez picking up the Contemporary R&B recording of the year, and Alexisonfire winning the Rock album of the year award. In addition, Michael Bublé was awarded Adult contemporary album of the year, Angelique Francis took home Blues album of the year, Savannah Ré won Traditional R&B recording of the year for the third year in a row, Arkells was named Group of the Year for a record-breaking sixth time, and Tobi won the award for Rap album/EP of the year.
