After two years off because of the pandemic, Montreal-based KoSA Music has announced the return of its KoSA Cuba Workshop. It’s a one-week immersion of Cuban rhythms, music, and culture.  This year, there are two educational trips planned to Cuba: Kosa Cuba Havana & Fiesta del Tambor from Feb. 27 to March 6; and Kosa Cuba & Matanzas Jazz Festival from April 28 to May 5, 2022.

Daily classes are given on conga, bongo, timbales, drumset, and other instruments by some of Cuba’s top artists. All instruments are supplied on site. Included in the daily schedule are sessions by Cuban ethnomusicologists, visits to museums, religious ceremonies, local interaction with Cuban musicians, playing sessions, and nightly concerts at the Fiesta del Tambor (Havana Rhythm and Dance Festival).

“We're so happy to be back in-person with our friends and ‘adopted musician-families’ in beautiful Havana!” the organizers says. “Cuba has been extremely efficient in vaccinating nearly ALL of their population and the island is once again ready to receive us. With YOUR safety in mind, we are happy to offer you, in true KoSA -style, an exceptional musical, cultural, and educational experience!”
